Welcome to the DeForest Area, the North Star of Dane County

DeForest was named for Isaac DeForest, whose ancestry can be traced back to Belgium.  He arrived in this area in 1854 and accumulated large land holdings, most devoted to wheat farming.  He had the land platted in 1856, seeing the opportunity for establishing a village.

We are just minutes from the capital of Wisconsin in downtown Madison.  There are majestic routes around the lakes and unique stores for shopping all just minutes from here.

You will find over 100 different kinds of Wisconsin cheeses and Wisconsin-made all beef summer sausages. They also have many gourmet items, candy, domestic wines, and a wide variety of gifts and Wisconsin memorabilia. **Now serving Babcock ice cream**
